Thanks, Mom and Dad!

Brooke and I checked out and returned home from the hospital in Frisco, Colorado on February 16th. One day later, my Mom and Dad flew into D.C. from Claremore, Oklahoma and moved into our apartment. This was one of the best things to happen to us since the accident.

My brother, Mike, works for American Airlines. He and his wife, Rachel, hooked my parents up with stand-by tickets that cost less than a matinée. Thank you guys so much!

So what if my parents didn't show up? There's a very good chance that Brooke and I would starve ourselves and our dog, Spunky (pictured above at her most active). Our apartment would be a total mess. We'd have no clean laundry. And my car tag registration would continue to be severely overdue.

That's right. Last Friday, my Dad renewed my car registration! For those of you that know me, you know I've been trying to see how long I could go without renewing it. I made it two years. Unfortunately, the penalty we had to pay was approximately $500!

But it had to be done. We're preparing to purchase a new vehicle. We need one that Brooke can drive and one that I can comfortably fit in. Currently, I own a tiny, manual Acura RSX-S. Brooke hates manuals. I hate cars I can't drive -- which unfortunately is all of them at the moment.

My Dad had to return to Claremore early this morning so he could get back to work on Monday. So late last night I had to make sure we all got our pictures together.

Dad, I'm sorry to say this, but you missed the back of Brooke's head with your rabbit ears by about a mile. I mean, it's not even close. I'm trying to put myself in your position, just to see if maybe the angle could confuse you, but I'm not seeing it. You just air-balled those rabbit ears.

Mom and Brooke: great job! You both look normal. I'm pretty sure Spunky thinks there is bacon in my Mom's right hand, though.

Now you guys know why I have such a giant head! I inherited it from this guy!

Mom is still up here helping me with everything now that Brooke has returned to work. My next doctor's visit is on the 12th. I'm hoping I'll learn more about my prognosis and get an idea for when I can return back to work.

Until then, my Mom and I are trying to work through the complex schedule of medications and paperwork that my nurse wife has been maintaining since I was discharged from the hospital in Frisco, Colorado.

Turns out this is hard work. It's even harder when you're actually taking the medications.

  1. I don't see a light or a piece of meat in your Moms hand. You also inherited my spelling talent. Dad

  2. Tony left out one small detail about why his car has not been inspected for 5 years. He was side-swiped by a semi-truck a few years ago(another close encounter...) which resulted in his car not passing inspection. Thankfully new & recent changes now allow cars with damaged bodies to pass inspection. Mom

  3. Upon further inspection, Spunky's paw is right up on Mom's hand. What's in there?
