X-Rays

My first follow-up after last Monday's surgery was today. Here are the x-rays we took. It's difficult to see the main fracture site at my tibia, but you can make out the broken screw ends left behind as well as the holes in my bones.

The alignment is awesome. All of the pins going through my leg are hidden behind the metal rings.

Consequences

One of the side effects of all the drugs I take is drowsiness. One of the side effects of taking care of me after surgery, as you can plainly see, is also drowsiness.

Even the dog, not pictured here, is passed out.

My hematoma is still huge. And it's slowly leaking toward my back.

Head Injury

This picture is old, but it proves Lightning and Thunder have been around for a while. I'll look for some Farley photos later.

I didn't think it was possible, but I hit my head on my external fixator today. It was the last part of my body that I thought was at risk from my satellite dish. As it turns out, it's one of the easiest to hit.

Because I dropped something under the couch, I was obligated to conduct a search in order not to look like a fool for losing something without ever moving.

As I bent down rather quickly, my forehead stabbed one of my deadly tibia pins. While I almost passed out in agony, my Aunt Kathy almost passed out from laughing so hard.

Like I said, my Aunt Kathy saw the whole thing go down. What I find interesting is she didn't say anything to prevent it from happening.

It was almost as if she wanted to laugh until she cried.

Rough Day

Spunky had a really hard day today with five visitors, trash to get into, and multiple dog farts. So she ended up doing what she does best.

Total Wheelchair Domination

Last night I thought I'd impress my wife with how awesome I am at wheeling myself around in my new wheelchair rental. Turns out it totally backfired on me. This is a short clip, but pay attention to the last second of the video. I get a finger from my left hand wedged in the wheel and hurt it. I wind up shaking it and sucking on the finger like a baby.

I rule!

Family Reunion

We're all here! As you can see, I inherited my horrible jokes and terrible comedic timing from my Dad, who's currently throwing the classic bunny rabbit ears behind both my head and my cousin Sam's head. If you look closely, you'll see that we all have the same type of eyes and giant heads.

My Aunt Mary Ann is an OR nurse. She was very interested to see the ankle and get the story of our hospital stay. I'm glad to have her around because I can bug her with my annoying questions when Brooke is either out or tired of my constant questioning.

Alison stopped by for a visit as well today to see the new hardware and hang out with the family. She got pretty sick last week during her vacation, which is the worst possible timing to get sick. We gave her an update and hung out for a bit.

Both my Dad and Brooke have been pretty stressed out over my hospital stay. Having my aunts in town should hopefully help calm everyone down. If not, then maybe we'll slip a Valium in someone's drink.
