Snowboarder vs Sailing

I know!  Dude, I know.  It's been a while.  Here's the deal.  I've been trying really hard to live my life like I don't have an ankle problem.

How's that going?

Turns out it's unavoidable.  I've got an ankle problem.  More to come.  But 2013 will be a big year.

In the meantime, here's a video I put together of a recent sailing trip to the British Virgin Islands.  If you have ankle problems, go sailing.  It's easier to move around on the boat than you think.  Much easier than a lot of walking.

  2. Hey man,

Considering you've only updated your blog twice since the end of 2011, who knows if you'll see this.

We are similar age, similar (original) injuries that occurred within 6 months of each other, and similar goals with similar pre-injury lifestyles. I've only had two surgeries (ex-fix and orif, left pilon fracture and I shattered crazy amounts of bone), but now I'm debating Ankle Distraction Arthroplasty with Denovo. Our joints look like they have/had the same amount of space, I am currently at 1mm.

I was wondering if I would be able to have a more private conversation with you about the distraction recovery, physical therapy, and a few other issues. I tried to contact you via Twitter, but it seems that account is defunct.

If you do see this, let me know and I'll give you my e-mail.

  3. Richie,

I'll be updating the blog a lot more this year. I see my surgeon Tuesday. What's your email address?

  4. Haha. That was quick. Three.Richie@gmail.com
